MEDAN – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FMIPA Universitas Sumatera Utara) took a strategic step in expanding its partnership network through a collaborative visit to the Medan Public Health Laboratory (Balai Laboratorium Kesehatan Masyarakat Medan). The activity is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, starting at 14:00 WIB until completion.

The FMIPA USU delegation was led by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Liana Dwi Sri Hastuti, along with other academic leaders and staff members.

The delegation included:

  • Mimmy Sari Syah Putri
  • Lely Ratnawati
  • Fiqri Ahmad Qurais Nasution

The meeting focused on exploring collaboration opportunities between the academic institution and the public health laboratory. Through this synergy, both parties are expected to mutually support research activities and community service programs, contributing significantly to the advancement of science and public health in North Sumatra.

This visit reflects the commitment of FMIPA Universitas Sumatera Utara to strengthening sectoral collaboration to achieve its vision of sustainable internationalization and academic excellence.

MEDAN – In order to mark the beginning of the new leadership term at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA Universitas Sumatera Utara), a friendly meeting and coordination session was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. This event served as an important milestone for the 2026–2031 deanship to directly build synergy with all supporting elements of the faculty.

The event, which began at 10:00 AM, took place at the Multipurpose Room, 1st Floor, Unit 8 FMIPA USU, Jalan Bioteknologi No. 1, USU Padang Bulan Campus. The main agenda of the meeting was to strengthen relationships and align the vision between the new leadership and all educational staff within FMIPA USU.

The meeting was attended by the core faculty leadership, including:

  • Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs
  • Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure
  • Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization
  • All educational staff of FMIPA USU

Through this friendly meeting, it is expected that strong and effective collaboration will be established between leadership and staff in managing the faculty organization for the next five-year period.

HUMAS FMIPA — As part of efforts to strengthen collaboration among higher education institutions in the fields of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA), the MIPAnet successfully held its National Working Meeting (Rakernas) 2026 from April 12–15, 2026, at Universitas Negeri Malang.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FMIPA USU), actively participated in this strategic forum, represented by the Dean, Nursahara Pasaribu, along with the Vice Dean II, Susilawati. Their presence reflects the institution’s commitment to aligning faculty development strategies with national policies and expanding academic collaboration networks at the national level.

 

Key Focus: Faculty Policy and Global Governance
During the event, the FMIPA USU delegation attended an important dissemination session on Ministerial Regulation Permendiktisaintek No. 52 of 2025 concerning lecturers’ professional pathways, careers, and remuneration, delivered by the Director of Human Resources of Diktiristek. In addition, discussions focused on strategies for international research collaboration and the standardization of laboratory governance to support the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (IKP).

 

Commitment to Implementation at FMIPA USU
Nursahara Pasaribu emphasized that participation in this national meeting is essential to ensure FMIPA USU remains adaptive to the evolving landscape of higher education. As a follow-up, the outcomes of the meeting will be disseminated and implemented into the faculty’s work programs, particularly in strengthening partnerships (MoU/MoA), increasing publications in reputable scientific journals, and improving laboratory governance based on benchmarking results.

Through this active participation, FMIPA USU reaffirms its readiness to contribute meaningfully to advancing MIPA higher education in Indonesia and to continuously enhancing the quality of the Tridharma of Higher Education.

FMIPA Corridor umum

The FMIPA Corridor is a semi-open area located within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Sumatera Utara. It is furnished with ceramic tables and benches designed to provide a comfortable space for academic and social activities.

The FMIPA Garden is a green open space located in front of the Undergraduate Program in Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sumatera Utara. Masjid Al-Muslimun kerohanian

Masjid Al-Muslimun is a worship facility located within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Sumatera Utara. It serves as the main place of worship for the academic community, particularly for performing the five daily prayers and the Friday congregational prayer.

In addition to its function as a place of worship, Masjid Al-Muslimun also hosts various religious and spiritual development activities such as Qur’an recitation sessions, Islamic studies, and other educational religious programs open to students, lecturers, and staff members.

The mosque offers a comfortable prayer space and is equipped with supporting facilities such as ablution areas and separate sections for male and female worshippers.
