The National Teacher's Day (HGN) celebration at Universitas Sumatera Utara adopted the same theme as that of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), "Moving Together, Celebrating Freedom to Learn," during a ceremony held at the USU Bureau Courtyard on Saturday (11/25/2023). The ceremony was solemn, attended by all lecturers, staff, and students within the USU community, including those from FMIPA. Participants wore traditional Indonesian attire, creating a diverse and vibrant atmosphere to enliven the HGN celebration.

In this year's HGN ceremony, Prof. Dr. Guslihan Dasatjipta, Sp.A(K), Secretary of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of USU, acted as the Ceremony Leader. The message from the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek), Nadiem Makarim, read by Prof. Dr. Guslihan Dasatjipta, Sp.A(K), emphasized his confidence that educators across Indonesia would continue striving to realize the Freedom to Learn concept. This belief is based on achievements made over the past four years. “I am confident that teachers as the captains will not reverse the course of the Freedom to Learn ship,” said the Minister in his speech, read by Prof. Guslihan.

The Minister also highlighted the urgency of improving teachers' welfare, pointing out that many teachers still face welfare challenges. “As we are aware, many teachers are still struggling with insufficient welfare, so it is hoped that their welfare will improve in the future,” he expressed.
