HUMAS FMIPA – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) conducted a collaborative visit to the Langkat Regency Community and Village Empowerment Agency (Dinas PMD) on Wednesday, July 29. The visit marked a strategic initiative to strengthen collaboration between the university and the local government in supporting village development through science and technology.
The delegation was led by the Dean of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si., M.Si., accompanied by the faculty leadership, heads and secretaries of study programs, as well as the FMIPA USU Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Public Relations team.
The main agenda included the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and an Implementation Agreement (IA) between FMIPA USU and the Langkat Regency Community and Village Empowerment Agency. These agreements provide the foundation for implementing various collaborative programs in the future.
The visit also featured a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled "Science and Technology Innovation for Strengthening Village Economies Based on Local Potential." The discussion served as a platform for exchanging ideas on applying research outcomes and scientific innovations to support village development, enhance community productivity, and promote sustainable economic growth.
Through this partnership, FMIPA USU aims to expand the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in research and community service, ensuring that academic innovations generate tangible benefits for regional development.
The collaboration between FMIPA USU and the Langkat Regency Community and Village Empowerment Agency is expected to serve as the foundation for various joint initiatives that provide science-based solutions to village development challenges while reinforcing the role of higher education institutions as strategic partners of government in fostering independent, innovative, and competitive communities.
