FMIPA Public Relations - The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), in collaboration with PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Persero) or INALUM, held a public lecture on the theme "Zero Carbon Village: Development of Renewable Energy as a Source of Electricity to Support the Transition from Inorganic to Organic Farming" on Monday, November 19, 2024, in the Multipurpose Room, 1st Floor, Unit 8, FMIPA USU.

The event began with a welcome address by the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Physics at USU, Dr. Tulus Ikhsan Nasution, S.Si., M.Sc. On this occasion, he expressed his gratitude to the speaker for taking the time to share invaluable knowledge relevant to the field of physics. He also conveyed his hopes to the participants, who were students from the Undergraduate and Master’s Programs in Physics. “I extend my gratitude to our speaker, Mr. Zainuddin Iqbal Sidabutar, S.T., M.M., Vice President of CSR at PT INALUM. We are honored to have an esteemed guest who is highly relevant to the knowledge we are studying in class. Therefore, I hope the students will fully comprehend the material discussed in this public lecture, as we are learning directly from an expert,” he remarked.

The Vice Dean III of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si., M.Si., also delivered a speech on behalf of the Dean of FMIPA USU. “Thank you to Mr. Zainuddin Iqbal Sidabutar, S.T., M.M., for attending this public lecture and sharing his knowledge and experience with FMIPA USU students. I also hope that in the future, FMIPA USU and PT INALUM can strengthen their collaboration in education to produce work-ready graduates,” he stated.

The public lecture was officially opened by the Vice Dean III of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si., M.Si., accompanied by the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Physics and the speaker, by pressing the start button on the monitor screen to mark the beginning of the event.

This event was particularly engaging as it featured Mr. Zainuddin Iqbal Sidabutar, S.T., M.M., Vice President of CSR at PT INALUM, who is an expert in his field. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the numerous questions raised regarding the practical application of the material in the professional and societal contexts.

The event continued with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between FMIPA USU and PT INALUM. The MOA was signed by the Vice Dean III of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si., M.Si., and Mr. Zainuddin Iqbal Sidabutar, S.T., M.M., Vice President of CSR at PT INALUM. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a souvenir in the form of a plaque by the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Physics to the Vice President of CSR at PT INALUM, followed by a group photo session.
