The Undergraduate Program in Biology FMIPA USU successfully held a workshop on “Updating the OBE and MBKM Curriculum” with speakers from Brawijaya University. This event equipped lecturers with knowledge to develop a quality curriculum towards excellent accreditation and *World Class University*.

FMIPA Public Relations, USU - The Undergraduate Program in Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized a workshop titled "Curriculum Updating for OBE and MBKM." The event was attended by the Vice Dean III, representing the Dean of FMIPA USU, the Head of the Curriculum and Learning Innovation Institute (LINKUP) at Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Dwi Suryanto, M.Sc., the leadership of the Undergraduate Program in Biology, and faculty members. The workshop was successfully held on Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Multipurpose Room, 1st Floor, Unit 8, FMIPA USU. It featured a speaker from Universitas Brawijaya, Rodliyati Azrianingsih, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.

 

The workshop aimed to equip lecturers in the Undergraduate Program in Biology with the knowledge and skills to develop curricula based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), in line with Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023 on National Standards for Higher Education (SN-Dikti) and the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative.

 

 

The Head of LINKUP at Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Dwi Suryanto, M.Sc., delivered a speech during the event. He encouraged all participants, who were lecturers from the Undergraduate Program in Biology, to engage fully in the workshop to enable the program to design a curriculum that supports USU's vision of becoming a World Class University and serves as a model for other faculties and study programs at Universitas Sumatera Utara.

 

 

The Vice Dean III of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si., M.Si., also addressed the participants, emphasizing that the workshop was a crucial step for FMIPA USU lecturers, particularly those in the Undergraduate Program in Biology, to enhance the quality of education. He highlighted that a well-designed curriculum is essential for producing competent graduates. He expressed hope that participants would actively engage in the workshop and apply the knowledge gained to develop an excellent curriculum for FMIPA USU, enabling the Undergraduate Program in Biology to achieve excellent accreditation.

 

 

The speaker, Rodliyati Azrianingsih, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., delivered her material clearly, concisely, and in a manner that was easy to understand for all attendees. The workshop is expected to benefit the lecturers of the Undergraduate Program in Biology by helping them develop nationally and internationally standardized curricula, improve the quality of education and graduates at FMIPA USU, and prepare USU to achieve its goal of becoming a World Class University.

 

 

The event concluded with a presentation of plaques and certificates by the Head and Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Biology at FMIPA USU.
