This academic meeting was marked by the signing of an Implementation Arrangement (IA) as a concrete commitment to global research collaboration.

HUMAS FMIPA – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Sumatera Utara once again demonstrated its commitment to realizing “The Era of Ultimate Excellence” through strengthening international collaboration. This commitment was reflected in the organization of a Visiting Lecturer public lecture featuring an international chemistry expert on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Hall Room Level 1 FMIPA USU.

The event featured Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui, a COMSTECH Distinguished Scholar from the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry. In her presentation, she delivered a cutting-edge topic entitled “Design and Synthesis of New Bioactive Heterocyclic Compounds – Synthesis, In Vitro and In Silico Studies.”

The event was officially opened by the Dean of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya. In his remarks, Prof. Miswar emphasized that the presence of world-class practitioners and academics is crucial for enhancing the quality of research and broadening the perspectives of students and lecturers within FMIPA. He also highlighted that scientific transformation must be carried out across national boundaries to address global challenges in science and health.

“The presence of Prof. Hina Siddiqui not only provides technical knowledge regarding heterocyclic compounds but also opens new horizons for our academic community to engage in a broader international research ecosystem,” stated Prof. Miswar in his speech.

One of the key moments of the event was the signing ceremony of the Implementation Arrangement (IA) between Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya and Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui as the representative of her institution. The signing became the highlight of the event as it marked a formal step toward deeper bilateral cooperation.

The primary focus of the collaboration includes synergy in research development, knowledge exchange, and potential scientific publication collaborations in the future. Through this IA agreement, it is hoped that the relationship between FMIPA USU and University of Karachi will continue to grow, creating opportunities for USU students and researchers to contribute to the global scientific community.

The event, which began at 14.00 WIB, was conducted with great enthusiasm and attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, and students who actively participated in discussions regarding the in vitro and in silico studies presented by the speaker.
