HUMAS FMIPA USU – The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) once again conferred Permanent Professorships at FMIPA USU in a solemn academic ceremony held at the Student Center of Universitas Sumatera Utara on Monday, 26 January 2026. In this ceremony, two lecturers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) USU were officially inaugurated as Professors, namely Prof. Dr. Mardiningsih, M.Si. and Prof. Dr. Elimasni, M.Si.

Prof. Dr. Mardiningsih, M.Si. was inaugurated as Professor in the field of Combinatorial Algebra, a discipline that plays an important role in the development of pure mathematics as well as its applications across various scientific fields.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Elimasni, M.Si. was inaugurated as Professor in the field of Biotechnology for Plant Breeding and Production, which significantly contributes to the advancement of sustainable agriculture and food security. The inauguration ceremony was attended by university leaders, members of the academic community, the extended FMIPA USU family, and invited guests. This event marked an important milestone in strengthening the role of academics as key pillars in the development of science, research, and innovation within Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The Dean of FMIPA USU, together with the entire academic community, conveyed congratulations and appreciation for the academic achievements attained. This inauguration is expected to further strengthen FMIPA USU’s contribution to the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, both at the national and international levels. With the addition of new Professors within FMIPA USU, the university is optimistic about continuing to promote the advancement of leading research, enhance the quality of education, and deliver tangible impacts for society in line with the spirit of Transformation Towards the Ultimate and Impactful Higher Education in Science and Technology.
