A total of 8,603 new USU students attended the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) 2022/2023 academic year, which opened at the USU Mini Stadium. After 2 years of being carried out virtually, this year PKKMB activities can be carried out offline and still pay attention to health protocols.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences alone contributed 415 new students who entered through the state university entrance selection held throughout 2022. The event began with remarks by the MC and the playing of the Indonesia Raya song.

On this occasion, PKKMB USU 2022 also received an award from Rekor MURI for breaking the record for Singing Medley of 8 Ethnic Songs by the Most New Students. The MURI Record Charter was directly handed over to the USU Rector.

After a series of opening events by USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M.Si, and presentation of material from sponsors, the USU Rector also held a ceremony to release students to the Deans of each faculty. In this case, the Dean of FMIPA USU, Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc, received the faculty flag, which was given symbolically.

In accordance with the event rundown, after the USU Mini Stadium, the new students moved to FMIPA and were welcomed by the Dean, Kaprodi/Sekprodi, and the PKKMB FMIPA 2022 Committee. Activities at the faculty include an introduction to campus life through material exposure from resource persons.

The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Dr Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc., was also proud of the PKKMB activities that have been carried out fully offline.

‘In accordance with the direction of the rector, Mr Muryanto Amin, the change from online to offline is a very extraordinary euphoria, but both are still equally meaningful,’ he said.

In addition, Vice Dean III, Dr Miswar Budi Mulya, M.Si, hoped that the offline PKKMB can make new students more enthusiastic about undergoing lectures.

‘The existence of this offline PKKMB aims to make new students more familiar with the campus environment directly and more enthusiastic in carrying out campus learning,’ he said.

Dr Susilawati, M.Si, as vice dean II, revealed in terms of financial support. ‘If academics can be maximized, we can also follow in terms of finance because this make program also needs a lot of financial support, so I hope that we can keep up in terms of financial support,’ she said.

The first speaker was Dr. Muhammad Anggia Muchtar, MMIT, with the material ‘Indonesian Higher Education System and Learning at USU’ and moderated by Dr Cut Fatimah Zuhra, M.Si. Followed by the second speaker, Roy Fachraby Ginting, S.H., M.Hum with the material ‘Life of the Nation, State, and Development of State Defence Awareness’ and moderated by Awan Maghfira, S.Si., M.Si. Then, the last speaker with the material ‘Student Achievement, Student Creativity Programme in FMIPA’ was presented by M. Zulham Efendi Sinaga, S.Si., M.Si and moderated by M.
