The Master's to Doctoral Education Scholarship Program for Excellent Scholars (PMDSU) has been organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture Research and Technology (Ditjen Dikti Kemendikbud Ristek) through the Directorate of Resources since 2013, which was batch I at that time. The Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is one of the universities that has participated in organizing the PMDSU Program from batch II to the current batch VI. This program provides an opportunity for USU to explore and realize opportunities to educate superior scholars.
The USU Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has graduated several students with Masters and Doctoral degrees through the PMDSU Scholarship, one of them from the Biology Postgraduate Program, Anisa Lutfia under the guidance of reliable lecturers, namely Prof. Dr. Erman Munir as Promoter, MSc, Dr. Yurnaliza, M.Si as Co-Promoter I, and Prof. M. Basyuni, PhD as Co-Promoter II. The graduation of this graduate student is an achievement of FMIPA in improving student achievement.
Anisa Lutfia's research on “Exploration of Endophytic Fungi from Zingiberaceae North Sumatra as Producers of Bioactive Compounds” led her to become a young Doctor at the age of 25, with a total publication of 16 reputable scientific articles and 1 simple patent. In addition, Anisa received the Best Paper award at the 2019 International Conference on Science and Environment (URICSE 2019) in 2019. Furthermore, she also received an International Publication Quality Improvement Scholarship (PKPI) at the University Of The Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan, for 6 months in 2019-2020.
