The Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara 2024 was attended by 7,350 new students, including from FMIPA USU, with the theme “Embracing The Future, Advancing Together”. The activity lasted until August 15, filled with student handover processions, motivation from leaders, and creative activities such as making TikTok videos.

FMIPA USU PUBLIC RELATIONS - The opening of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the USU Mini Stadium, was attended by 7,350 new students of the Universitas Sumatera Utara in 2024, including students from FMIPA USU. PKKMB activities will last three days until Thursday, August 15, 2024. After handing over new USU students to the deans of faculties in the USU environment, this process is followed by student mobilization to each faculty.

The Dean of FMIPA USU, Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc., warmly welcomed the new students upon arrival. In her remarks, she welcomed the students who were selected and had passed the USU entrance examination process: “Welcome to FMIPA USU, new students. Carve your dreams in FMIPA and give pride to your parents for your achievements,” she said. In addition, the Dean of FMIPA USU also introduced the leaders of the Faculty and Undergraduate Study Programs within FMIPA USU.

This year, PKKMB USU carries the theme “Embracing The Future, Advancing Together.” This theme is very relevant to the challenges and opportunities in the future, which require students to be open to innovation, change, and progress. This expectation was realized when new students first set foot on the FMIPA USU campus to uphold solidity. Solidity at FMIPA is a concept promoted to reflect a solid and inseparable unity involving cooperation, trust, and mutual support among students in facing challenges to achieve the highest achievements and ideals.

USU Vice Rector I for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., paid a visit to FMIPA USU on the first day of PKKMB activities. On this occasion, he motivated and inspired new students. He emphasized the importance of upholding manners in the campus environment and invited students to attend lectures more diligently to compete with students from other universities.

The activity continued with the provision of material and skits to break the atmosphere so that new students did not feel bored during this activity. The committee also invited new students to make a TikTok video that could be used as a memento of PKKMB 2024.
