HUMAS FMIPA – As part of its commitment to strengthening public communication and digital media management, the Public Relations Office of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) participated in the Public Relations Technical Training (Bimbingan Teknis/Bimtek) for faculty public relations officers and social media administrators across Universitas Sumatera Utara. The training was held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Academic Senate Room, USU Rectorate Building.

FMIPA USU was represented by Achmad Darmawan, S.I.Kom. and Fiqri Ahmad Qurais Nasution, S.I.Kom., members of the faculty's Public Relations team. Their participation reflects FMIPA's commitment to enhancing the quality of institutional publications and social media management, and to disseminating accurate, educational, and impactful information to both the academic community and the public.

The training program was officially opened by the Secretary of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Ir. Ikhsan Siregar, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., who emphasized the strategic role of public relations as the frontline in building a positive institutional image through adaptive, technology-driven, and strategic communication.

Participants also received insights from leading media practitioners and communication experts, including Usrizal Pulungan, S.Sos., M.H., Acting Head of Metro TV Medan Bureau, who discussed public relations strategies in the digital media era; Irwan Arfa, Head of the ANTARA News Agency (LKBN ANTARA) North Sumatra Bureau, who shared best practices in news management and media relations; and Ade Ardianta Harahap, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., a social media practitioner from MedanTalk, who presented strategies for developing creative content and optimizing institutional social media platforms.

Through the training, the FMIPA USU Public Relations team gained valuable knowledge on public communication strategies, news writing techniques, social media management, and institutional branding in the digital era. These insights are expected to support the promotion of the faculty's academic achievements, research activities, community engagement programs, international collaborations, and student accomplishments.

FMIPA USU's participation in this Public Relations Technical Training demonstrates the faculty's commitment to continuously improving the quality of its information services while strengthening its public image as an innovative, excellent, and digitally adaptive faculty.
