FMIPA PR USU - The Master and Doctoral Program in Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a workshop entitled “Exploring AI's Potential in Mathematical Research and Education.” The event, which was attended by the Vice Dean I of FMIPA USU and participants from the USU Mathematics Undergraduate, Masters, and Doctoral Study Programs, was successfully held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Multipurpose Building Unit 8 FMIPA USU.

Vice Dean I of FMIPA USU, Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhra, S.Si., M.Si., who represented the Dean of FMIPA USU on this occasion, gave a speech as well as opening the workshop. In her speech, she stated, “This workshop activity is very useful because we get knowledge directly from the experts.” The workshop was divided into two sessions: the first session discussed the mechanism of making AI, while the second session discussed the use of AI in everyday life. He also expressed his hope that AI can facilitate work in various fields.

The Head of the USU Master and Doctoral Program in Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Elvina Herawati, M.Si., in her speech, hoped, “With the implementation of this workshop, participants from mathematics study programs, both undergraduate, master, and doctoral, can listen seriously so that their knowledge and skills in the field of Artificial Intelligence for mathematics research increase.” He also hoped that this workshop can be a place to exchange experiences, ideas, and strategies that can be used in the future. “I would like to thank the speakers for taking the time to share their knowledge with all of us,” he said.

The event continued with the presentation of material on “Exploring AI's Potential in Mathematical Research and Education” delivered by the resource person, Meisyarah Dwiastuti, S.Kom., M.Sc.
