The booster vaccine is the third dose of Corona vaccine, which is different from the first and second doses. So, after a person has received a complete dose of primary vaccination, to maintain the level of immunity and extend the protection period, the person should be recommended to carry out a booster vaccination. Some studies have shown that there is a decrease in antibodies at 6 months after receiving a complete primary dose of COVID-19 vaccination, so a follow-up or booster dose is needed to increase the individual's protection.
Based on the Circular Letter of the Indonesian Ministry of Health through the Directorate General of Disease Prevention and Control numbered HK.02.02/II/252/2022 concerning COVID-19 Vaccination Advanced Dose (Booster). So, the Universitas Sumatera Utara also supports the circular by organizing an advanced dose of COVID-19 vaccination for lecturers and staff in all Faculties at USU, including FMIPA. Therefore, FMIPA lecturers and staff are willing to carry out booster vaccinations scheduled from January 30 to February 28, 2022, at Sibayak Poly Lt 1 USU Hospital at 13.00-14.00 WIB. Prospective vaccine recipients first register at the link https://bit.ly/VAKSINBOOSTER-USU. The administration of this booster vaccine uses a Heterologous mechanism, namely, the administration of a booster vaccine using a different type of vaccine than the complete dose of the primary vaccine that has been obtained previously. FMIPA lecturers and staff who have received the complete primary vaccine Sinovac will be given the AstraZeneca vaccine type in the implementation of the vaccine at the USU Hospital. After that, vaccine recipients receive a COVID-19 vaccination certificate that explains the recipient's name, date of administration, and type of vaccine that can be downloaded on the PeduliLindung application.
