FMIPA USU conducted a three-day certification training on laboratory quality assurance and technician schemes, involving lecturers and staff. This training aims to enhance competence and gain professional recognition nationally and internationally.

FMIPA USU - Medan

Lecturers and staff from FMIPA attended a three-day certification training on laboratory quality assurance and technician schemes at the Multipurpose Hall of FMIPA Universitas Sumatera Utara from July 24 to 26, 2023. The opening ceremony was attended by the Faculty's leadership, program coordinators, lecturers, and staff.

The training was divided into two schemes: laboratory quality assurance, attended by 15 lecturers, and laboratory technician, attended by 17 staff members. The certification was facilitated by trainers from Amanah Mandiri International Competency Training Institute, including Nazaruddin, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., Drs. Enstya Utama Harahap, M.Sc., Virda Yuandha, Kurniawan, and Bima Prima.

The trainers provided in-depth material on various topics, such as the importance of personnel competence, planning and conducting laboratory or fieldwork, processing and interpreting data using laboratory software, implementing quality systems, continuous improvement processes, workplace safety, and environmentally friendly procedures. Participants also learned about calibration and both standard and non-standard work methods.

 

Additionally, participants were required to undergo interviews to assess their understanding of personnel competence and laboratory/field quality assurance systems.

Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhrah, M.Si., Vice Dean I, stated, "Lecturers and staff working in laboratories need official recognition of their skills, knowledge, and work attitudes. This certification training will also boost their confidence."

 

Dr. Susilawati, M.Si., Vice Dean II, added, "With certification, lecturers and staff participating in this training will have clearer career paths and greater motivation, recognized both nationally and internationally."
