Undergraduate Program (S-1)

Established in 1965, the Undergraduate Program in Mathematics at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has become a unit responsible for in-depth education in mathematical sciences. Supported by the best individuals with high quality and integrity, our lecturers are committed to guiding students in learning mathematics as a whole, from geometry, algebra, to discrete mathematics.

Our Undergraduate Program in Mathematics aims to produce graduates who are excellent and competent in theoretical mastery of mathematics, as well as being able to apply mathematical knowledge practically. Graduates of our Undergraduate Program in Mathematics have broad career prospects, including as teaching staff, analysts, statisticians, financial experts, and actuaries in various government and private agencies throughout Indonesia.

Undergraduate Program in Mathematics was established in 1959 with an implementation decree No. 6699/D/T/K-N/2011.

Carrying out community service in the field of applied mathematics to improve the quality of human resources.
Fostering links and matches between universities, government, and the business sector (ABG - Academic, Business, and Government) in quantitative planning and decision-making based on mathematical concepts.
Fostering collaborative relationships with various parties, both domestic and international, to maintain up-to-date teaching quality.

To develop high-quality graduates who have a strong theoretical understanding of mathematics and are able to apply mathematics practically in the fields of Operational Research, Statistics, and Computational Mathematics.
To deliver high-quality research focused on the development of pure and applied mathematics.
To produce innovative works in the theoretical and applied mathematics fields that society can utilize.
To develop graduates who master the basic principles of mathematics in statistical analysis, mathematical modeling, operational research, combinatorics, and mathematical computation for planning, design, estimation, coordination, and providing alternative solutions in the fields of services and production, business, banking, and engineering.
To publish national and international scientific publications related to mathematics, including operational research, mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, and computation.
To improve graduates' ability to develop themselves in fields related to mathematics, both pure and applied, with an emphasis on the development and deepening of operational research, statistics, and computational mathematics.
