MIPAnet is committed to advocating for the collective interests of all higher education institutions in the field of MIPA that are its members. As part of this commitment, MIPAnet strives to build a high-quality, dignified institution capable of optimally contributing to society in response to current demands and developments. One strategic initiative is the MIPAnet Best Practice Workshop with the theme “Bridging to Innovation and Internationalization,” held from March 9–12, 2023, at Hotel Kimaya, Yogyakarta Special Region.

The workshop was attended by 81 MIPA faculties and science and technology faculties from PTUN and PTKIN across Indonesia. FMIPA Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) also participated, represented by the Dean, Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc.

During the meeting, MIPA and FST faculties across Indonesia agreed to prioritize research downstream innovation, international research collaboration, adjunct professor programs, and industrial visits. Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si., Dean of FMIPA Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), highlighted that higher education plays a crucial role in national development. He emphasized the importance of building a research culture and fostering internationalization within universities to improve both the quality and quantity of research.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants unanimously elected Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si., as Secretary General (Sekjen) of MIPAnet for the 2023–2025 term.

On the second day, all participating deans visited PT Yogya Presisi Teknikatama Industri (PT YPTI), a company established in 1999 specializing in plastic product molding, automotive parts, electronics, educational systems, and packaging products.

Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc., expressed her hope that similar activities could be implemented at each faculty. “By directly observing the latest technologies in the industry, lecturers and students can broaden their knowledge and insights, which can lead to updates in faculty curricula,” she stated.
