My name is Anisa Lutfia, a former graduate student in Universitas Sumatera Utara through the Master towards Doctoral Education scholarship for Superior Scholars (PMDSU). During my study, I am followed the research under Prof. Erman for 4 years (2017-2021). Being a student under his guidance is the memorable grant that ever happened in my life. To me, He is not only a mentor, a project leader of the research, but also a father figure who always gives attention, support, encouragement, advice and lessons. Not only that, I used to know nothing and nobody in the campus, but now, given with trust and motivation, he always motivated me to trying, learning and improving the development of knowledge until I succeeded. Prof. Erman is a figure role model and motivator who contributed greatly to the success of my career, he showed me that I was smarter than I thought and make me realize that a failure is a stepping stone to success during the learning and advancing process. Therefore, at this moment I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Prof. Erman Munir for the time, opportunity, attention, knowledge, learning, experience and support both morally and materially. May you always be a role model for everyone for the intellectual progress of the nation and state. May you always be given health, success and happiness.

Warm greetings to all of us, and may we always be under the protection of Allah SWT. First of all, I would like to ask for your permission to express my thoughts and impressions during my studies and while being under your guidance for my final project.

My name is Farahnaz Afriliandini Lubis, or “Farah” as you usually call me. I pursued my studies from 2018 until August 2022 and was entrusted by you to be one of your advising students.

On this occasion, I would like to express my utmost gratitude to Dr. T. Alief Aththorick, M.Si., for all the attention, time, and sacrifice you have given me. I realize that I may not have been a student who had much time for advising sessions, as I also had work responsibilities outside of my studies. However, this doesn’t mean I neglected my responsibility to complete my degree. I caused some inconvenience during the advising process, especially towards the end of my study period. Yet, you always offered encouragement and would say, “Just a little bit more, Farah.” Alhamdulillah, I was finally able to complete my degree successfully, even though it took longer than anticipated.

Thank you so much, Sir. Thanks to you, I was able to earn the Master of Science (M.Si.) degree. May you always be in good health, under Allah SWT’s protection, and may I be able to apply the knowledge you have shared with me. One piece of advice you always gave, which I will never forget, was, “Don't forget to get married, Farah. Don’t be too picky, okay?” Lastly, I sincerely apologize if any words or expressions in this message were inappropriate or disrespectful. Thank you very much.

First of all, I humbly ask for permission from you, Sir, and the organizing committee, to express a portion of my impressions and a short message about my experience during my studies and final project supervision with him.

My name is Adrian Hartanto, one of his advising students since 2018. During the four years (2018–2022), I have been involved in various research grants and laboratory activities under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Erman Munir, M.Sc. This experience has been incredibly valuable, as he is both a highly flexible supervisor in technical matters and an excellent role model in providing professional teaching and guidance for my colleagues and me in accomplishing our responsibilities. Prof. Munir is a firm and competent figure in his field, often providing critical and objective assessments across a range of academic activities.

On this occasion, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Prof. Dr. Erman Munir, M.Sc., for all of his attention, time, and sacrifices, both morally and materially. I would also like to close this message with a Minang proverb: “Baraja ka nan manang, mancontoh ka nan sudah”, which means “Learn from those who are skilled, and emulate those who have succeeded.” I firmly believe that the presence of Prof. Dr. Erman Munir, M.Sc., and other lecturers within the Biology department at Universitas Sumatera Utara serves as an extension of the Almighty for students and society, enabling intellectual growth for the betterment of the nation and state.

Wherever and whenever I have the opportunity to serve in the future, I will continue to carry forth the noble values and competencies I have gained from Prof. Munir, for the greater benefit of society.
