Students at FMIPA, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), engage in a dynamic Public Lecture on ISO/IEC 17025:2017, led by industry expert Mr. M. Indra Gunawan, S.T. This insightful session, hosted by FMIPA's Chemistry Undergraduate Program, equips students with essential skills for thriving in laboratory environments and beyond.

Public Relations FMIPA — The USU Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Undergraduate Program in Chemistry, held a Public Lecture on Understanding and Implementing ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 to optimize laboratory functions and provide provisions for students to compete in the world of work. This activity occurred in the Multipurpose Room of FMIPA USU, Unit 8, 1st Floor, on Tuesday (19/03/2024).

Dr. Sovia Lenny, M.Si., the Head of the USU Undergraduate Program in Chemistry, had the opportunity to give his remarks. She hopes the students attending this public lecture can provide additional knowledge in optimizing chemical laboratories' functions.

She hoped that “this activity aims to provide understanding to final-year students so that they are more familiar with ISO / IEC 17025 and its implementation in the world of work later.”

Deputy Dean I of FMIPA USU, Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhra, S.Si., M.Si., representing the Dean of FMIPA USU, also gave a speech.

“I hope that this public lecture activity can improve IKU 1 and soft skills for students to enter the world of work later,” she said.

The international standard that specifies requirements for the technical competence of testing and calibration laboratories is ISO/IEC 17025:2017. This standard provides quality and technical management guidelines that must be established in laboratory operations. The speaker who attended today's activity was Mr. M. Indra Gunawan, S.T. from Prima Indonesia Consulting. The activity ended with the presentation of an FMIPA USU plaque and a group photo to the speaker.
