The Undergraduate Program in Chemistry FMIPA USU held a Project-Based Learning and Case Method workshop to support the quality of learning in accordance with Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023. The event was attended by FMIPA USU lecturers with a speaker from Universitas Gadjah Mada.
FMIPA Public Relations, USU - The Undergraduate Program in Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a workshop titled "Project-Based Learning and Case Method in Chemistry." The event, attended by the Vice Dean I of FMIPA USU, the leadership of the Undergraduate Program in Chemistry, and faculty members, was successfully conducted on Monday, November 11, 2024, in the Smart Classroom of the Undergraduate Program in Chemistry, 1st Floor, FMIPA USU. The workshop featured a speaker from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Drs. Roto, M.Eng., Ph.D.
The workshop aimed to improve the quality of education in accordance withPermendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023 on Higher Education Quality Assurance, particularly the Graduate Competency Standards.
The Vice Dean I of FMIPA USU, Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhra, S.Si., M.Si., in her remarks, emphasized the importance of these learning methods in achieving the Key Performance Indicators (IKU) for State Higher Education Institutions (IKU-PTN), especially IKU 7: Collaborative and Participatory Classes. IKU 7 requires that at least 50% of classes utilize case-based and project-based methods to meet standards.
"Project-Based Learning and the Case Method are indeed vital for achieving IKU 7, but our ultimate goal goes beyond that—it is about fostering meaningful interaction between lecturers and students in the classroom," she stated.
The event concluded with the presentation of a plaque by the Vice Dean I, accompanied by the Head and Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Chemistry.
