FMIPA PR - The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Career Guidance for final-year students, which is an effort by the faculty to prepare graduates to be ready to enter the world of work. The activity was held on Friday (02/02/2024) in the Multipurpose Room Unit 8 FMIPA USU. The activity was attended by the Dean of FMIPA USU along with the Vice Deans I, II, and III, and participants who were final year students.

In his remarks on this occasion, the Dean of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc hoped that the final year students who attended this activity could understand the explanation explained by the resource person so that they could prepare and plan the desired field of work. “This career guidance activity is an important activity that can provide knowledge about independence and stability to you final year students in preparing for the field of work you want later. Hopefully, you can be better prepared to face the world of work later,” he said.

Career guidance plays an important role in the development and success of students. It is to help them make informed decisions about their future and equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complex world of work. One of the main goals of career guidance is to help students gain self-awareness and explore their interests, skills, and values. By engaging in various assessments and activities, students can identify their strengths, weaknesses, and interests. This process of self-exploration is crucial as it allows students to align their career choices with their personal values and goals.

Prof. Ir. Lilis Sukeksi, MSc., PhD is a speaker in this activity who is a Chemical Engineering Lecturer and also the Co-Founder of CV Artsari 4 Granted Patents provides important points that must be prepared to face the world of work, such as how to recognize yourself to tips and tricks in building a business. He also gave another view to look for opportunities to explore different career options and understand the requirements and expectations of various industries.

On this occasion, the resource person also gave a question and answer session to the participants to give them the opportunity to ask about the world of work more deeply so that they are better prepared to face it. In addition to facing the world of work, participants also asked about their readiness to face the business world in order to compete with competitors who are increasingly innovative.
