FMIPA USU successfully held a CPL assessment workshop to improve curriculum quality on November 20, 2024. This activity focuses on integrating the institution's vision with the needs of the global industry in order to prepare competent graduates.

FMIPA Public Relations, USU - The Undergraduate Program in Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully held a workshop titled "Assessment of Graduate Learning Outcome Achievement (CPL)" on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in the Multipurpose Room, 1st Floor, Unit 8, FMIPA USU. The event was attended by the Vice Dean I of FMIPA USU, leaders of the Undergraduate Program in Mathematics, and faculty members.

 

The workshop featured a speaker, Ely Hayati Nasution, S.S., M.Si., who serves as the Secretary of the Curriculum and Learning Innovation Institute (LINKUP) at USU. The event aimed to integrate three main aspects in CPL formulation: structural objectives, competencies, and relevant skills.

 

 

The event began with opening remarks from the Vice Dean I of FMIPA USU, Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhra, S.Si., M.Si., who stated that the workshop marked an important moment in aligning the curriculum cycle of each study program with institutional-level policies.

 

 

The Head of the Undergraduate Program in Mathematics, FMIPA USU, Dr. Mardiningsih, M.Si., also delivered a speech, expressing gratitude to the participants and emphasizing the importance of updating and refining the curriculum to ensure it remains relevant in producing competent graduates.

 

 

In her presentation, Ely Hayati Nasution, S.S., M.Si., explained that CPL is an integral component in ensuring graduates are equipped with skills aligned with current demands. The workshop highlighted the importance of integrating the institution's vision and mission with the practical needs of the industry. The speaker also emphasized the role of rubrics as a consistent and accountable assessment guide and portfolios as a tool to showcase students' performance and growth over time.

 

The workshop underscored the necessity of objective and measurable CPL evaluations in line with the guidelines of the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation. This ensures that every course contributes to achieving the predetermined CPL, equipping FMIPA USU graduates to compete in the global job market. Additionally, the workshop emphasized the importance of accurate learning outcome measurements to align with government policies and future industry needs.

 

The outcomes of this workshop are expected to make a significant contribution to improving the quality of education at FMIPA USU, in line with its mission to produce highly qualified and globally competitive graduates.
