The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Universitas Sumatera Utara received a visit from SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih Batu Bara on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the Multipurpose Room 1st floor of FMIPA. This visit was one of the study tour activities of SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih Batu Bara led by the principal R. Ade Safari Pane S.Pd, M.Pd and attended by 9 teachers and 20 students.

Dean of FMIPA Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc, Vice Deans, Head / Secretary of the Study Program, and Head of Personnel responded warmly to the visit of SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih Batu Bara students. In his remarks, the Dean expected students to always obey the teachers at school, because teachers provide knowledge so that students become a much better figure. Not only in terms of learning, teachers also teach ethical values, so that younger siblings become smarter. In fact, teachers often spend extraordinary time teaching knowledge to younger siblings, even though they have the same responsibility to their own families and children.

Furthermore, the Dean said that students must be able to map the majors of choice to enter higher education because in admissions, students have tactics, conditions, or strategies to pass, for example, those who have a top 1-20 ranking. He added that through cooperation later in community service the lecturers can help and prepare students to win the provincial Olympics. The Principal, R. Ade Safari Pane S.Pd, M.Pd, and the subject teachers and students who attended felt happy because they were very well received at FMIPA USU in this study tour activity. The principal said this activity would add insight to SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih Batu Bara students in the world of lectures, thus providing motivation for students to continue their studies to the university level. He also welcomed if the cooperation that was established would be able to produce student achievements in the provincial Olympics.

This study tour activity also provided an opportunity for SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih Batu Bara and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, to establish cooperation starting with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). In addition, the Implementation Agreement (IA) was also signed between SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih Batu Bara and the study programs of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Before the students visited the lecture hall, a green open space for students and laboratories in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at FMIPA USU, all those present took a group photo as a memory of the study tour activities of SMA Negeri 1 Air Putih Batu Bara to FMIPA USU.
