DIES NATALIS 57 FMIPA USU has the theme "Collaboration of science and Entrepreneur in realizing campus internationalization." The peak event of DIES NATALIS was held on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the Multipurpose Building FMIPA, with the main agenda being the presentation of scientific orations. The event was attended by the Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, represented by the Secretary of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Prof.Dr.dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar M.Ked (OG) Sp OG (K), Vice Rector 1 Dr. Edy Ikhsan, SH. MA, Chairman and secretary of the USU Academic Senate, Acting Chairman of the USU Board of Professors, Vice Rectors of USU, General Secretary of the University, Deans and Directors of USU graduate schools, Directors of Directorates, Heads of Institutions, Heads of Fields and Work Units within USU, Chairman, secretary and members of the Faculty Advisory Board, Vice Deans of FMIPA, Vice Deans of FMIPA, Heads and secretaries of study programs, Chair of the USU Alumni Association, Chair of the FMIPA Alumni Association, FMIPA Working Partners, Chair of the 57th Anniversary Committee of FMIPA, Teaching Staff and Education Personnel in FMIPA.
The scientific oration event was opened by MC Dr. Kaniwa Berliani, S.Si, M.Si, and Dr. Mhd Taufik, S. Si. M. Si. Furthermore, singing the Indonesia Raya song and prayers to expect the smooth running of the event. After that, the audience watched a dance performance to welcome guests and invitations by FMIPA students.
The annual report of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences by Dean Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc explained the current conditions in the form of achievements that FMIPA USU has achieved as a form of support for the performance of the USU Rector in achieving key work indicators or IKU achievements. Achievements that have been achieved include FMIPA being in the fourth position in Scopus publications, student achievement, and increasing the resources of teaching staff and teaching staff.
Furthermore, remarks by the USU Rector, who in this case was represented by the Secretary of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Prof.Dr.dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar M.Ked (OG) Sp OG (K) said that the dies natalis theme taken was very significant between science and the industrial world because the industrial world needed innovations created by students. The creativity created by students is needed to advance the industrial world and become a solution to problems in society. He also said that learning activities are not only in the room but can be outside the room by using a research-based learning plan by creating new innovative products that answer the problems that exist in the industrial world and in the community. In addition, the Secretary of the University also said that the leadership of the Universitas Sumatera Utara also highly appreciates the achievements achieved by FMIPA USU and hopes that FMIPA can maintain the achievements that have been achieved and can produce alumni who are useful for industry in Indonesia, especially in North Sumatra.
Scientific oration with the title The Role of Higher Education in Creating MSME-Based Entrepreneurs in the Era of Society 5.0 by AKBP (Ret) Dr. Jonius Taripar P Hutabarat S.Si. M.Si, who is also an alumnus of FMIPA USU. He explained the challenges ahead as alumni, including competition in finding jobs, the influence of the global recession, and opportunities in the era of society 5.0. After the presentation, the Dean, together with Vice-Rector 1 and Secretary of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, gave certificates and souvenirs to the speakers, AKBP (Ret.) Dr. Jonius Taripar P Hutabarat S.Si. M.Si
After the scientific oration ended, FMIPA students performed a choir with the song Pada Mu Negri and regional songs, followed by a traditional Batak dance. The event ended with the cutting of tumpeng as a sign of gratitude for the 57 years of FMIPA. Before cutting the tumpeng, the Dean of FMIPA expressed his gratitude and hopes that in the future, FMIPA will be more advanced and victorious.
