The "Rector Greeting" program is a breakthrough of the Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M.Si to all faculties in the USU environment at the beginning of 2023, including visiting the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences on Wednesday 11 January 2023. This program is the rector's way to socialize university priorities in 2023.
The Rector Greeting was held in the Multipurpose room on the 1st floor of Unit 8 FMIPA, which was attended by the Rector, Vice-Rectors, Director of the Directorate of International and Global Cooperation, Head of LIPIHKI USU, Head of the Public Relations, Promotion, and Protocol Office, Director of the Directorate and System Integration, Head of the Quality Assurance Agency, Dean of FMIPA, Vice Deans, Head / Secretary of the Study Program, young lecturers, KTU, and Head of Subdivision in FMIPA.
The event was opened directly by the Dean of FMIPA Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc. Next, the Rector presented the priority program for 2023 - international class. He said that universities must be flexible to maximize the achievement of KPI targets on all indicators. In addition, he also explained the main problems in higher education that must be resolved properly in stages to realize the international class. These problems include learning methods, learning processes, facilities, quality of the faculty, and learning curriculum. The solution to these problems is to apply the best ways and solve them based on the priority program set. For example, lecturers do not dominate in class, but students are more interactive in class. In addition, all courses must have an updated RPS every semester to meet the learning outcomes. Classrooms must also meet standards in their utilization. Along with this, curriculum revision is also a solution to meeting the demands of achieving international class.
After the Rector finished explaining the 2023 program, the event continued with questions and answers from the lecturers present, including Doni Aldo Samuel Siahaan S.Si, M.Si representing young lecturers asking about e-learning containing material so that students can access it easily when using the OBE method that will be applied. Furthermore, Dr. Mardiningsih, M.Si, representing the head of the study program, asked about preparations that must be made for international accreditation in the form of information about standards that must be met through workshops or accreditation assistance. Meanwhile, Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhrah, M.Si also asked about the readiness of facilities and lecturers to run the OBE method towards international classes.
The lecturer's questions were immediately answered by the Rector, who helped complete it by Emerson Pascawira Sinulingga, ST., M.Sc. Ph.D as Director of the Directorate and System Integration. Dr. dr. Isti Ihniati Fujiati, M.Sc., CMFM, M.Pd, Ked as Head of Quality Assurance Agency, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita as Director at the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships. The rector's greeting ended with a photo and lunch together.
