FMIPA USU - Medan

The opening of the New Student Orientation Program (Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus Mahasiswa Baru, PKKMB) on Friday (18/08/2023) at the USU Mini Stadium was attended by 8,393 new students of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) for 2023, including new students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA). After the handover ceremony of USU's new students to the deans of each faculty, the event continued with students heading to their respective faculties.

The Dean of FMIPA, Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc, personally welcomed the new students upon their arrival at FMIPA. “Welcome to FMIPA USU, dear new students. Set your dreams high at FMIPA and make your parents proud of your achievements,” said the Dean. Besides providing motivational remarks, the Dean also introduced the faculty and undergraduate programs leadership.

This year, PKKMB USU adopted the theme "Building a Bright Future Together." The theme highlights collaboration for a bright future and contributing to USU's progress by producing excellent students and alumni. This vision is expected to be evident from the very first steps of new students at FMIPA, a campus known for its motto, "Solid Pasti Jaya" (Solid and Victorious).

Solidarity is a key concept upheld by FMIPA, symbolizing a strong and inseparable unity. It emphasizes teamwork, trust, cohesion, and mutual support among students as they face challenges and strive to achieve their highest goals.

During the three-day program, new students received various materials on USU campus life to shape their BINTANG-character values. Additionally, they practiced creating mosaics, which were showcased during the PKKMB closing event.
