PILMAPRES (Student Achievement Selection) is a forum for students as adults to develop their potential to the fullest to achieve the goals of higher education, namely developing the potential of students to become human beings who are faithful and devoted to God Almighty and have a noble character, healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, skilled, competent, and cultured for the benefit of the nation. Therefore, FMIPA Universitas Sumatera Utara which also adheres to the goals of higher education, therefore also organizes PILMAPRES every year. This activity is carried out in stages, starting from the study program level, then the faculty, then the university, and later will follow the election at the national level. The selection of Outstanding Students at the faculty level in FMIPA was held offline on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Unit 1 Multipurpose Room, which was attended by Deputy Dean I Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhrah, M.Si, Deputy Dean II Dr. Susilawati M.Si, Head and Secretary of FMIPA Study Program, Jury, Supervisors, and PILMAPRES participants.
This PILMAPRES activity is strengthened by various legal bases, both laws and regulations, as well as the objectives of PILMAPRES as stated in the KEMENDIKBUD PILMAPRES Guidelines. These objectives are a. Strengthening the awareness of campus managers to facilitate student creativity through intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. b. Increasing campus awareness in giving awards to outstanding students. c. Increasing the number of creative ideas and innovative student products for development originating from the campus.
On this occasion, Vice Dean I welcomed and hoped that the real purpose of PILMAPRES would be achieved. In addition, Cut said, “PILMAPRES will also be able to increase the achievement of IKU, namely students getting off-campus experience consisting of off-campus experience activities and achievement acquisition”.
PILMAPRES in FMIPA presents a jury that is experienced and qualified to select students who have comprehensive intelligence in both hard skills and soft skills. The jury was chaired by Prof. Dr. Timbangen Sembiring, M.Sc, while the members were Liana Dwi Sri Hastuti, M.Si, Ph.D and Dr. Irwana Nainggolan, M.Sc. The chairman of the jury conveyed the assessment rules before the PILMAPRES participants presented. PILMAPRES participants totaled 9 people from the Undergraduate Study Program (Physics: 2 people, Chemistry: 2 people, Mathematics: 1 person and Biology: 2 people), and from the Diploma Study Program (Metrology and Instrumentation: 2 people). The participants presented scientific work in the form of creative ideas for undergraduate programs and innovative products for diploma programs in English.
After all participants had presented and gone through a question-and-answer process with the jury, the champions at the faculty level were obtained. The jury decided, in the Undergraduate Study Program, as the 1st Champion. Yunita (Biology), 2nd Champion Silvia Ramadina (Physics), 3rd Champion Muhammad Fauzi (Physics). Furthermore, the champions in the Diploma Study Program are 1st place Frans Septian Manalu and 2nd place Finem Jupentus Marbun, who are Metrology and instrumentation students. Thus, the 1st place winners from undergraduate and diploma will compete further at the university level. They will compete with 1st place winners from other faculties within USU. Therefore, prepare yourself for PILMAPRES at the university level. The spirit continues to achieve superior achievements in intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities because awards to outstanding students are only for energetic students, both hard skills and soft skills.
