The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held its 2024 Musyawarah Rencana dan Pengembangan (MUSRENBANG) at The Hill Hotel Hall, Sibolangit, on Friday-Saturday (October 13–14, 2023). The MUSRENBANG aimed to design the faculty’s work programs and was attended by the Dean of FMIPA, Vice Deans, Chairpersons, Secretaries, and Members of the Faculty Advisory Council, Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, Laboratory Heads, Heads of Administrative Units, Subdivision Heads, Dean’s Expert Staff, and the FMIPA Public Relations Team.

The Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc., in her opening remarks, stated that MUSRENBANG discussed strategic work programs for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs at FMIPA while agreeing on the prioritized activities listed in the faculty’s proposed work plan. “We work collaboratively to achieve the eight targeted Key Performance Indicators (IKU) by harmonizing work programs in academics, student affairs, alumni relations; finance, HR, facilities, and administration; as well as research, community service, and collaboration within FMIPA,” she explained.

Following the opening ceremony, the Vice Deans presented their respective work programs, which were based on inputs from all study programs within FMIPA. The presentations were followed by a Q&A and discussion session to finalize the agreed-upon activities for 2024.

MUSRENBANG for the 2024 academic year was officially closed by the Dean of FMIPA, after the Vice Dean II, Dr. Susilawaty, M.Si., presented the conclusions and agreements, which included:

  • The recognition mechanism for MBKM in TALENTA USU research and community service is being developed by the Bureau Team.

  • The Undergraduate Programs in Physics, Biology, and Mathematics are expected to prepare for reaccreditation to achieve superior accreditation and international accreditation.

  • Academic peer collaborations, both national and international, need to be increased in 2024.

  • The number of international publications and citations, although meeting the target, should be further increased to maintain the top rank at USU.

  • A special team will be formed in 2024 to accelerate faculty functional promotion processes.

  • Association fees can be allocated through each study program’s budget (RKA).

  • Activities such as workshops, public lectures, competency certifications, and others must have clear and concrete outcomes to enhance the university’s Key Performance Indicators.

The MUSRENBANG concluded with a group photo session.
