The weather this morning looks sunny in the environment of the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), which has a fairly large green land that is beautiful and comfortable. This condition is utilized by residents around the campus, as well as the Medan community to exercise, as well as the leadership elements at USU together doing morning walks. Although the Covid-19 pandemic situation has not ended, USU Rector Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si invites the leaders of all faculties and their staff to exercise regularly. The implementation of morning walks requires the use of health protocols in accordance with the rules set by the current government. In addition, this morning walk can also improve body fitness and immunity so that leaders and their staff are always healthy and always think positively about achieving the goal of educating the nation's children.

Morning walk sports activities are one of the programs being promoted by USU at this time.  The morning walk is carried out casually with the Rector, and it is held once a week on Saturday morning in rotation for each faculty member in the USU environment. On Saturday morning, August 21, 2021, it was the turn of the USU Rector, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si, together with the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc, Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhra, S.Si., M.Si as vice dean I, Dr. Susilawati, S.Si., M.Si as vice dean II, Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si., M.Si as vice dean III and expert staff of the dean, KTU, Kasubbag, several lecturers and education staff of FMIPA USU carried out the morning walk. The USU Rector said that this morning's walk program was presented to strengthen intimacy and a gathering event for the highest leadership of the Universitas Sumatera Utara to its ranks. He also conveyed this program as a medium to coordinate the performance system and find solutions if several problems occur so that the expected performance indicator output can be achieved.

The morning walk starts at 08.00 WIB until 11.00 WIB. The route traveled starts from the Rector's official residence to FMIPA and returns to the Rector's official residence. During the morning walk, the Rector and the Dean of FMIPA USU occasionally communicated with each other, so that they did not feel they had arrived at the FMIPA location. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) is one of the faculties at the Universitas Sumatera Utara, which has 17 Study Programs consisting of Diploma, Undergraduate, and Master. FMIPA is committed to supporting the University in implementing various programs to increase the quantity and quality of the entire academic community based on work indicator output. So that the transformation to the best USU can be achieved.  Arriving at FMIPA, the Dean showed several programs that were being implemented, starting from the location of the garden, the process of building and repairing laboratories, and several other academic facilities. Then the Rector responded well, the ongoing construction and repair process at FMIPA while expressing full support for the ongoing program will be achieved as expected, even though the process is carried out in stages due to limited funds at this time.

Dean of FMIPA USU, Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc., also expressed his very good welcome to the morning walk program, which is carried out routinely in all faculties in the USU environment by the USU Rector. The Dean hopes that this activity will continue to be carried out, so that the intimacy that is established can create a calm atmosphere in discussing finding solutions if there are problems in each faculty. “This activity is also a means to communicate casually between deans, vice deans, dean expert staff, KTU, Head of Subdivision, several lecturers, and education staff to discuss progress in improving better performance output at FMIPA USU,” said Dr. Nursahara Pasaribu, M.Sc. In addition, he hopes that this activity can be maintained after the COVID-19 pandemic ends; later, there will be more participation of lecturers and students in this activity so that morning sports become one of the promotional events for FMIPA in Indonesia, especially in North Sumatra.

After FMIPA, the morning walk route with the Rector continued to the Rector's official residence to rest. The next program talked about further coordination regarding the condition of FMIPA while together enjoying breakfast and coffee. At the end of the activity, the Rector advised to maintain health by complying with health protocols and remain enthusiastic about carrying out activities according to their respective duties and functions.
