A total of 25 PKM teams from FMIPA USU successfully secured funding and are ready to advance to PIMNAS 2023. This achievement is expected to boost student competitiveness in the national arena.

The journey of the Student Creativity Program (PKM) at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in 2023 began with the PKM launching event by the USU PKM Center in early January 2023. This was followed by the successful socialization of eight PKM categories across various faculties, including FMIPA, in February 2023. These categories included PKM Exact Sciences Research, Social Humanities Research, Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Technology Application, Creative Work, Innovative Work, and Constructive Idea Videos. Subsequently, PKM proposals were submitted for internal selection, and the results of the internal selection were announced. After forming PKM teams for each faculty, workshops were conducted for discussions with reviewers. Teams were required to upload their documents to the SIMBELMAWA platform.

In March, the PKM teams that passed Stage 1 on SIMBELMAWA were announced, followed by the announcement of the teams that secured funding in June.

In 2023, USU students submitted 300 PKM proposals. Out of these, 25 teams from FMIPA successfully secured funding, forming part of the 98 PKM teams funded across Universitas Sumatera Utara. The FMIPA PKM teams included eight teams from the Chemistry program, eleven teams from the Biology program, three teams from the Physics program, and three teams from the Mathematics program.

Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhrah, M.Si., Vice Dean I of FMIPA, expressed her pride in the announcement of the 25 funded PKM teams from FMIPA as a remarkable student achievement. She also hoped that this success would encourage students to compete more effectively and leverage this opportunity to excel nationally.

The entire academic community of FMIPA congratulates the students and their mentors. May these teams achieve victory at the PIMNAS event in Bandung.
