FMIPA PR - The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), together with the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) held a public lecture entitled “Potensi Gempa Bumi di Sumbagut dan Diseminasi Info Gempa Bumi” on Thursday, (25/04/2024) at the Multipurpose Building Unit 8 FMIPA USU.
Dr. Tulus Ikhsan Nasution, S.Si., M.Sc., as Head of the Undergraduate Program in Physics at USU, had the opportunity to give his remarks. He hopes that with this public lecture activity, in the future, there will be cooperation between FMIPA USU and BMKG in the form of research collaboration or, if possible, followed up by MBKM activities and to the students who attend. He hopes that in this activity they can be more active in asking questions so that they can become provisions for students to be able to enter the world of work,
“With the implementation of this activity, I hope that students can be more active in asking questions and discussions with the speakers so that they can become provisions for students later in the world of work,” he hoped.

Vice Dean III of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si., M.Si representing the Dean of FMIPA USU, also gave a speech and opened the public lecture. “We hope that this public lecture activity will be useful for students, in particular, and provide a lot of general knowledge about the potential of earthquakes in Sumbagut,” he said. In addition, he also hopes that later, he can realize cooperation between FMIPA USU and BMKG in the form of collaborative research.

The activity continued with the signing of the IA (Implementation Arrangement) by the Head of Physics Study Program, Vice Dean III FMIPA USU with BMKG and the submission of a plaque submitted by Awan Maghfirah, S.Si., M.Si as Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Physics.

The event continued with a material presentation on “Potensi Gempabumi di Sumbagut dan Diseminasi Info Gempa Bumi” delivered by the BMKG Team and ended with a question and answer session with students.
