FMIPA USU PR - The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a public lecture with the theme "Syntheses of New Chemical Entities and Dietary Formulation Development for Obesity and Their Biological Studies" on Thursday (08/08/2024) at the Unit 8 Multipurpose Room FMIPA USU.

The public lecture was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui from ICBBS, Karachi University Pakistan, as a resource person, as well as Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T as Director of Internationalization and Global Partnerships.

In her remarks, Vice Dean 1 FMIPA USU, Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhra, S.Si., M.Si, representing the Dean of FMIPA USU, thanked Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui for her presence on this occasion. "I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to you and ICCBS for your support for one of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) programs, especially the Merdeka Research program. This collaboration has been instrumental in enabling our undergraduate, master, and doctoral students to carry out their final research projects at your institution," she said.

The Director of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., also gave opening remarks. He expressed his hope that with this public lecture activity, the Universitas Sumatera Utara, especially FMIPA USU, can compete internationally and develop students who excel at the global level. "This is a considerable provision for our students who will later compete in the international arena. I also hope that FMIPA USU and ICCBS will work more closely together," he said.

The activity continued with the handover of plaques from FMIPA USU to the speakers and the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Vice Dean III of FMIPA USU, Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si., M.Si, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hina Siddiqui represented the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS).
