FMIPA USU participated in the 2025 SEMIRATA event hosted by Universitas Riau. The seminar focused on the role of science and artificial intelligence in sustainable development and fostering collaboration among western public universities.

FMIPA Public Relations – FMIPA USU attended the 2025 Annual Seminar and Meeting (SEMIRATA) held at Universitas Riau (UNRI). This event was a collaboration between UNRI and the Western Region State University Cooperation Agency (BKS-PTN Wilayah Barat) and was conducted in a hybrid format. The offline session took place at the Integrated Classroom of UNRI, while the online session was conducted via Zoom on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

 

The Rector of UNRI, Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, S.E., M.Si., represented by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems, Dr. Ir. Sofyan Husein Siregar, M.Phil., conveyed in his opening remarks the importance of collaboration among UNRI and other universities under BKS-PTN Wilayah Barat in advancing science for impactful contributions. Similar sentiments were echoed by the Dean of FMIPA UNRI, Prof. Dr. Syamsudhuha, M.Sc., and the Head of BKS PTN Wilayah Barat for MIPA, Prof. Dede Djuhana, M.Si., Ph.D.

 

The 2025 SEMIRATA carried the theme Science and Artificial Intelligence and featured distinguished speakers including the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., the Dean of FMIPA of Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Dr. Berry Juliandi, S.Si., M.Si., and the Secretary General of MIPAnet & Dean of FMIPA Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Dr. Eng. Kuwat Triyana, M.Si. On that occasion, Prof. Brian Yuliarto delivered a presentation emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence in shaping civilization. “Today, artificial intelligence is no longer just a tool, but a transformative force in shaping civilization, strengthening life resilience, and ensuring sustainable development,” he explained.
