Profile
Prof. Dr. Miswar Budi Mulya, S.Si, M.Si, was born in Medan on October 10, 1969. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Universitas Sumatera Utara 1995. He then pursued his Master of Science degree in 2000 and his Doctorate in Marine Science (Marine Biology) from Bogor Agricultural University in 2012. Since 1997, he has been dedicated to teaching as a faculty member in the Biology Study Program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, specializing in General Ecology.
He has served as the Head of the General Ecology Laboratory from 2000 to 2004. From 2017 to 2021, he was appointed as the Chairperson of the Master's and Doctoral Program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management at the Graduate School of the Universitas Sumatera Utara. Since 2021, he has been entrusted with the position of Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, responsible for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Information. As a faculty member in the field of General Ecology, he teaches several courses such as General Ecology, Marine Biology, Algal Biology, Conservation Biology, Ecological Analysis, Aquatic Ecology, Conservation of Aquatic Ecosystems, Coastal Ecosystem Ecology, River Basin and Lake Management, and Preparation of Aquatic Ecology Proposals for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Programs in Biology, as well as the Master's Program in Natural Resources and Environmental Management. In addition, from 2016 to 2021, he expanded his duties as the Chairperson of the North Sumatra Marine Partner.
He has also been appointed as a reviewer for the Journal of Learning and Biology Nucleus (Sinta 3) at Labuhan Batu University since 2018. He has won several national research grants through the Directorate General of Research and Technology Development, university-level grants, and community service grants.
